The Art of Self-Care

If I were to ask you the question, "what did you do for yourself today that nurtured YOU, and no one else, what would you say?
Most people have told me that they had something on a list somewhere, or an idea of what they planned to do when they had the time, when they had the money, or if there were no other demands made on them so that they would be freed up, and available to make that date with themselves.
These responses are common for those of us who are caretakers, nurturers, health professionals, empaths. We suffer from vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue.
We need to take care of ourselves first, before we end up with zero energy to take care of others.
My suggestion to you is this: make a date with yourself each day...begin with 5-10 minutes and use a meditation app (insight timer or calm are great for this) and sit on the bathroom floor if you have to.
Or, if you have a few dollars, get yourself a coloring book, a journal, some watercolors or crayons and begin the art of self care...doodle, scribble, zentangle, finger-paint.
If you need more ideas, email me and I'll help you out!
